how much do internal medicine residents make from the beginning on? and also, is that number different when u went to medschool in the US vs. a different country?

All residents at the same hospital are paid the same wage at the same level; regardless of specialty or school from which they graduated. The starting salary for a resident is anywhere from the low 30Ks to high 40Ks. It will vary greatly from program to program but it is illegal to pay residents different salaries based on where they went to medical school.
 
the reason the income varies from program to program is usually b/c of cost of living. if you're looking to get paid alot, consider the cost of living in the area. you might get paid a ton in manhattan or SF, but you might be living from paycheck to paycheck. i go to a program that pays okay, but costs nothing to live around here, so i end up saving a lot of money.
