Resident away rotation

I'm interested in picking up a rad onc skill not offered at my institution—does anyone have any experience with or insight into doing away rotations as a resident at other institutions?

Acro used to offer the Howard H Wong scholarship specifically for that purpose. Not sure if they still do

I did an away rotation my PGY-5 year, which was a great experience. My classmate did as well. Keep in mind, though: If your institution does not have an affiliate agreement with the place where you rotate, (technically) you will only be able to observe. Some attendings may be willing to let you work with patients directly anyway, but you may not be able to count the procedures you perform in your case logs.
