Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with scapulothoracic bursa injections?

Patient and fluoro position? Approach? Clinical pearls? etc.

Thanks

have patient put arm behind their back and leg shoulder droop. This will wing out their scapula. Injected from medial to lateral along chest walll and beneath scapula. No fluoro necessary

The last I did i used Flouro because patient was 5 foot 1 and weighed 290.

What needle do you use? How far under the scapula do you have to reach?

Do you simply direct to the point of maximum tenderness?

Would fluoro be helpful to ensure the needle passes between the chest wall and scapula and not stray too deeply and cause a pneumothorax?

Would it not be better to use fluoro to be sure the needle does not stray and cause a pneumothorax?
