Does anybody know if senior residents are allowed to do locums out in the community? Is it program specific? If they're allowed to, how do things like malpractice, etc work?

Can anybody else elaborate on the ability to moonlight in Radiation Oncology? Are you allowed to as a PGY-5, but groups are reticent to allow Chief Residents to moonlight b/c of the potential liability issues of not using a board eligible Radiation Oncologist? I mention the board eligible part b/c it is my understanding that you are not board eligible until you pass the Radiation Oncology written exam, but could be wrong. Thanks.
