Registration for the September MCAT opens up soon, so I thought I would make the thread.
Who else will be taking the test in September?

It's also the middle of the day though for non-east-coasters so some might be in the middle of class or work. Maybe more will post later in the day?

MCAT SCORE: 127/127/128/126 508 - 77% percentile

AAMC FL SCORE: 75%/77%/80%/88% - 80.5% Overall

Somehow I feel disappointed but still kinda satisfied. Feeling meh at the moment but whatev... Im surprised I got 127 in CARS since it's my worse section and got a 126 in P/S even though it was my highest section in my FLs.

Hi guys,

Sep 3 test taker here! Just got my MCAT score and idk how to feel about it, tbh... (I'm really happy with it, but CARS leaves a bitter taste)

AAMC FL: 92% C/P, 81% CARS, 93% B/BC, 85% P/S

MCAT SCORE: 516 total (95th percentile)

C/P: 131
CARS: 126 :'(
B/BC: 130
P/S: 129

Is my CARS score competitive enough for Canadian med schools (I'm Canadian btw)? What about most US med schools? I really don't want to retake the MCAT because I honestly don't know if 1) I can maintain my other section scores and 2) There's no guarantee that my CARS score will improve. Any advice would be great, good or not. I just felt the need to get others' opinions :p. Thanks!

Third time writing the MCAT. First two times were 32 (10/11/11) and 34 (12/8/14). Wanted to rewrite first two times to meet cutoffs for a school in Ontario, happy to say I'm done taking the MCAT forever!

CARS kind of annoyed lol I mean I shouldn't be annoyed at all, but I know if I had gotten more than 3 hours of sleep it could have been higher!!!

Anyhow I am PSYCHED overall!!! :) very very very happy congrats to all who got the scores they wanted

Congrats everyone!!! You guys should be so happy for yourselves!!!!

But gahh reading all of these posts just makes me more anxious for Oct 13...

That's a good score, but did you feel very nervous on the test by any chance?

I felt nervous, but mostly because my GPA stinks so I needed a good MCAT score. I felt OK about the test itself, and OK afterwards. I had been getting more anxious as today got closer.

can you tell us how you prepared for the exam?

I was taking Physics II and Bio II over the summer, so that kind of helped (but not much). I did a fair amount of khan academy (like half a million points) between passages and videos (both review and new content - I never took sociology, so I had to learn the material on khan academy). I was given Barron's MCAT prep book. I looked at some of the content review, but it was only kind of useful. There were two full length practice tests that I did use, though. Also AAMC practice questions (which I didn't finish all of them) and their full length test about 5 days before the exam. Started studying about 12 weeks before the exam.

Edit: I also tutor general chemistry like 5 hours a week.

Great score and congrats!!!

But 95% ----> 127 ???

Yeah, I know! I did think the FL questions were much easier (for me, it's all relative) than the MCAT questions.

I retook a 506 from July (127/127/127/125). I knew psychology had some sort of mistake, since it has always been my best section. My AAMC FL was 75% total, I don't remember the sections except psychology was 86%. Just got my Sept 3 score back:
509: 127/126/127/129
I'm thrilled, since I needed a 507 to stay in my BS/MD program. Good luck to all of you waiting for your scores this month!

Wait, you were 1 point shy of staying in your program and had to retake the MCAT to avoid getting kicked out? You poor thing. :( At least you improved enough to stay.

I tried out the MCAT after my first year (didn't take bchem/psych/ochem) so I could gauge the areas I needed to work on. Turns out I won't have to retake again :)

Actual score: 129/126/130/128 = 513 (89percentile)

AAMC FL 78%/75%/85%/71%

Third time writing my first two mcat was 11/9/11 and then 12/8/10 I am happy to say I will not be rewriting...

wowo dude. Your predicted MCAT score based on your AAMC FL via the updated AAMC FL predictor was: 129/126/130/128... overall 513 with a narrow range of 510-513.

NICE

AAMC FL: 78%/92%/73%/93% (taken 1 month before the real exam)
Actual: 130/129/128/131 = 518 (97%)
Predicted score using the excel sheet was 517
My conservative gut feeling after walking out of the test was that I got around 511-513, so 518 was a pleasant surprise

How I studied:
  • Studied from mid-June to September 3rd like it was my full-time job, hobby, and favourite pastime
  • Basically went through the matrix that AAMC gave with all the testable concepts. Using that as an outline/checklist, I would go through TPR textbooks and make notes accordingly. If I felt that the TPR textbook wasn't fully covering one of the testable items, I would either google research, look into Khan Academy videos, or supplement with Kaplan textbook readings.
Good luck to everyone studying for the MCAT/still waiting for their results!

Congrats to everyone for being done! Wish I was in the same boat... time to start studying for January :cryi:
I was scoring between 509-513 on TPR tests over the month leading up to my actual exam too.

MCAT: 511 (85th percentile): 130/127/126 (ughhhh what happened)/128
AAMC FL: 85%/81%/85%/73% (taken ~2/3 way through content review)

Unless your application is severely lacking in other areas or you are really, really, REALLY hellbent on going to an "upper-tier" school, it is not worth retaking. You have like a ~32 MCAT. Even the 126 biology subscore is about a 9 or 10, so you should meet cutoffs. Also unless you completely slacked off when studying for the MCAT, all your retakes will be in the same score band. It's not called "standardized" for no reason.

Hey everyone,

I just got my MCAT score back today and I'm really conflicted as to what to do (rewrite/not rewrite...ONLY because of CARS, nothing else!). Here's what I got:

MCAT SCORE: 516 (131/126/130/129)

AAMC FL: 92% C/P, 81% CARS, 93% Bio, 85% P/S

The problem is I'm Canadian and a lot of Canadian med schools (especially in Ontario) love a good CARS score. Do you guys think I have a competitive score for Canadian med schools? What about US med schools? I've heard most of them generally look at the overall performance, but I'm just worried that they might have minimum cutoff scores.

Should I rewrite the MCAT or not? (What would you do if you were in my situation?)

Congrats to everyone for being done! Wish I was in the same boat... time to start studying for January :cryi:

Retake it if you only really enjoy taking the MCAT otherwise that's a fine score...

ugh there goes another wave of canadians bombing the CARS section of the MCAT (121-124) on reddit subforum. Seriously though, do Canadians get a different CARS or what lol
