I received this message from the M2 office, which clearly explains a corrupted data file currently showing zero births in FY-16. Just another example of how big data is going to make everything better, faster, and easier.

Purchased Care data (TED-Institutional) is currently showing 0 birth for FY16. The number of births in Purchased Care Data is based on the ICD code. The algorithm for computing births was changed in October to account for ICD-10 codes. The developers who do the calculation are just finishing all of the changes for the TED data in MDR and M2. The number of births should show up correctly in the end-of-April release of PC data. If needed, the number of births can be derived by counting the records with ICD-10 Procedure codes for births. For FY16 and later: If the 1st 4 characters of any of the dx codes are Z370 or Z371 then set to 1, else if the 1st 4 chars of any of the dx codes is between Z372-Z374 or Z3750 or Z3759 or Z3760 or Z3769 or the 1st 4 chars are Z377 then set to 2, else if any of the 1st 5 chars of the dx codes is Z3751 or Z3761 then set to 3 else if any of the 1st 5 chars of the dx codes is Z3752 or Z3762 then set to 4, else if the 1st 5 chars of any of the dx codes is Z3753 or Z3763 then set to 5 else if the 1st 5 chars of any of the dx codes is Z3754 or Z3764 then set to 6.
