Quick two part question:
Is it allowed to take Step2-CS before Step2-CK? If it is; then is it more difficult to pass Step2-CS without passing step2-CK? OR preparing/passing step2-CS has nothing to do with step2_CK????
Actually, I am an FMG in MA, just passed step1 and because of some personal circumstances and schedule limitations I would like to take step2-CS before step2-CK. I would like to be matched for 2007 residency.
Any input will be appreciated!

Yes. In fact, I believe that one can take Step 2 CS before Step 1 (as long as one is properly certified by one's medical school.)

See http://www.ecfmg.org/2005ib/ibfaq.html

6. In what order do I take the exams required for ECFMG Certification?

To be eligible for ECFMG Certification, you must, among other requirements, pass USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS. See Examination Requirements. Once you meet the eligibility requirements for examination, you can take these exams in any order. See Eligibility for Examination.

Although there is some overlap, these are very different exams. CK is theory and CS is hands-on. It depends on how prepared you are for one or the other.

yes you can. i have done that.
