Strong State Ties?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of adding some more schools, but want to make sure I'm not adding any that require strong state ties. I know that West Virginia usually requires state ties for applicants who are OOS but how about Virginia Commonwealth and Eastern Virginia. I'm a Michigan resident.

I wonder the same thing. I have no ties to Virginia but would love to apply to those schools.

I would apply to them. Their in state vs out of state ratio is about 1:1.

The Virginia schools typically accept a large number of OOS applicants.

I understand the they accept alot of OOS, I saw that in the MSAR. The problem is you can't tell if those OOS'ers are from the the DMV(DC, Maryland, Virgina) and who have close ties to Virgina or OOS'ers from Southern Cal that have never been to Virgina.

That's my concern too...oh well, it doesn't hurt to apply I guess
