i know you should take time off and all that, but lets say you have to work during this summer to pay off some of your outstanding loans. i am trying to get an idea about some of the other options that are available for summer other than working in a lab. any of you doing anything interesting this summer that pays well too? as long as i make around 6 grands in 3 months, i'll be happy.

Most summer research opportunities I've seen only pay like $3000 for the summer, so I have no idea where you could earn $6000.

You could try to get a job as a tech or something in a hospital, or some other random job.

I really don't think the small amount of money one might make in a summer job is worth this chance to decompress and congratulate yourself on getting in. Your outstanding loans will not be such a big deal in the future - either you're adding a whole lot to that pile anyway, or you've got a scholarship and can certainly afford to let those loans ride for a few years. Unless it's credit card debit, of course, in which case you should probably pay it off.

Participate in human research. The place I work as a few 3 week residential studies that pay in the neighborhood of $3,000. A couple of those, or one added to a decent job after, could get you the $6,000.

if you want to do research, try interning in the pharma industry. it pays nearly twice as much as academically oriented research does.

You could become a stripper...the pay isn't too shabby. Just hearsay of course.

Selling drugs might be dangerous but it's also quite a rewarding alternative too.

Depending on your state, entertainment/travel/tourism/service industry people make a lot of money. At a casino I worked at in my Freshman year a lot of the waitstaff made $20ish an hour. Of course my state lets tipped workers keep their minimum wage of ~$9.00. Your mileage may vary.

gonna work outside all day playing with kids coaching a sports camp. And go out every night with my friends.
