I have the 2011 version of the book but the reaction is missing. Can you please write the reaction from example 10.9 because mine is missing it so I can try working on it. Thank you.

Mine is missing as well, but from what they describe in the explanation, the only possible reaction they could be referring to is Cl2(g) + Cu(s) -> CuCl2.

But if anyone's version does have this reaction, of course it would be great to have that confirmation! Anyone?

It's basically what you said, but written in ion form.

Cl2(g) + Cu(s) -> 2 Cl- (aq) + Cu2+ (aq)
