Texas at a disadvantage for SMPs? :(

I was just wondering if we have a close to nil chance of being accepted into a *TEXAS* school within the first year of a SMP. Reason being, several have mentioned how most schools hold off interviews until December or January so they can have at least the first semester grades. However, I believe for most (if not all) Texas schools, interviews start very early and the LAST batch are usually ~November/December. Does that mean we will probably have to do the two year plan if we want to attend an SMP as well as a Texas school?
