I think many of you will agree that today is a great day to officially prepare for the May 22nd MCAT!!!

I was against the April 2015 MCAT because a typical 3 month schedule doesn't seem to work for
students and/or working test takers. With a little over 4 months of preparation we can go in with confidence!
It's all new and really scary--so let's kick MCAT butt together!!

I was also wondering, wouldn't many professional MCAT test takers and tutors want to take the MCAT 2015 as soon
as possible (April MCAT) so they can better they're material or teaching? Wouldn't that just destroy the curve?

That there A-holes.
Seriously I don't know. When in doubt you can call and ask.
I'm pretty sure it is a simple thank you email. Or to tell me they review my app. The committee meets today. Supposed to hear tomorrow.

Y'all I just got an email from the school I'm waiting to hear from. It was the picture they took on interview day with a note saying "thanks for coming and we hope to see you again soon! What does this mean?!
don't read into it haha, most schools send some type of thank you email after interview day. Best of luck tomorrow!

Oh they are killing me! I have no idea what that means.

Thanks! Yea I can't read into it. Everyone gets it it seems. I have to think that it's only been 2 weeks since I interviewed too, so it's a pretty quick turnaround.

It honestly made me jump seeing the sender of it, thinking that is how they'd tell me I was wait listed or something. Haha

I thought I got rejected from Tufts but now I'm not sure if it was real life or a dream...it would probably say on my portal if I had been rejected, right?

Also the past few days have me convinced that I will be living alone in med school. I am so sick of my suite mates, I just want to go home.

I thought about it more and I think I either want the dorm style (if that's an option at the school I end up at ) or just live with roommates. I think I would hate coming home to an empty dark place. maybe I'm just not used to that idk. either way, also saves $$

I could do the dorm style as long as I had a private room and a private bathroom. I just...hate people so much. I asked my suite mates to find a better place for their bread because they've been leaving it on the counter and it takes up literally half of the counter space that we have to cook. And one was like of course, no problem, like the good, reasonable, intelligent person that she is. The other refuses to move it, because she doesn't cook her own meals (she's so f****** pathetic, she can't do anything for herself, can't cook, can't figure out how to take public transportation, buys her books from the bookstore because she thinks using chegg or amazon is too difficult, etc) so she has no idea how obnoxious her bread being there is. UHEGO:IQ#H*TY*)#(YTGOQU#T:. I am so done with this girl. We used to be friends, I'm not sure why.
Argh I am in such a bad mood rn. I feel like bread should not make me this mad.
Oh, and also because the bread is sitting on the counter there are always bread crumbs everywhere, and being gluten-free, I have to clean the counter ever time I cook so I don't contaminate my food.

Then she'll get even more mad at me :(
Lol what is wrong with me...I'm supposed to be studying for anatomy but instead I'm bitching about bread and planning a spring break trip that will never happen.

Yeah I get your point. I have had plenty of bad roommates. In Korea I had one who stole my food and tried to hook me up with his stripper gf's stripper friends. I thought that was bad until I came home to my next roommate watching animal porn (I am not joking)
Point is I get it what its like to be over having roommates. However, it is generally bearable if you have your own beadroom and bathroom.
A lot of us got into medical schools in very big cities with high costs of living. It is hard to see a scenario where any of us can afford to live without roommates.

Oh...my...God. I would move out immediately. I didn't even know that was a thing!!!
But I guess you're right, I probably couldn't afford to live alone in Chicago. But if I end up in Cincinnati I will live alone.

yea I don't want to pay like $1000+
roommate problems are so trivial. just go talk to her and problem solved.

Normally I would but I know this girl, and she's even more stubborn than me =/ She isn't willing to accommodate to anyone, so I guess I just have to live with it.

Whoa. Where did you live in Korea?

I was at Kunsan Air Base from October 2002 to October 2003.
The fortunate thing is I was in Korea during the Iraq war kick off so I missed those first round of deployments.

Yeaah Paul and I had a little talk after that. Unfortunately, its the military so its not like I had a whole lot of say in the matter.

Oh awesome! I lived near K-2(Taegu) from 2004-2005 when my dad was a contractor. I loved it over there.

Haha could be worse :p

Yeah I was in the Air Force from 2000-2006 and returned to school. I chose medicine because I decided I wanted to be 50 when I finally got my career going.

I heard Taegu was actually not a bad place to be. I actually had more fun in Korea than anywhere else I was stationed. Too much fun actually.
I went there weighing 170 and came back weighting 215 and this was not a good weight gain. I had weigh to much Soju
Also this is what it feels like for vets when they first return to school

Haha well better late than never!
Actually I have a question. I was talking to a co-worker last night whose dad is a vet and a doctor, and she said the army covered part of his med school costs because he was in the army before (but not during or after) med school. Is that true? She's kinda loopy so I don't really trust her lol. She said that "$1 million in debt isn't that much".

I received the GI bill for four years. However, it has a limit and it does not pay for everything.
I was stupid and used my GI Bill when I was at community college. If I could have done it over again I would have waited until I was at Davis to start collecting my GI Bill.
That way I could have gone into less debt at Davis. I am not aware of any scholarships or aid to military members outside of the GI bill that pays vets education without requiring us to serve on active duty once again.

So could you use the GI bill to pay for part of med school, if you didn't use it to pay for undergrad?

I would get paid monthly, so the money would go more toward living expenses, but that would result in less loans.

Have any of you guys ever noticed that a lot of people from majors that are stereotyped as easy or unimportant have severe inferiority complexes? I do not think any one major is harder or better than the other personally, but it seems like whenever I meet an English/communications/psych major, they always feel the need to let me know that their major is way harder and more important in every way imaginable.

I kind of see that. But I think they more often tell me about how hard it is, rather than how important it is. I think most English majors I've met are pretty aware of how useless their major is lol. I personally am the first to admit that Spanish is a pretty easy major and is only moderately useful.

What's the best way to take a suit on a flight? Wear it or put it in a suit bag?

My aunt swears by putting each piece of the suit in plastic (like you know the hangers with the plastic hanging over them that you get from the dry cleaner and stuff?) individually, then put them in a garment bag. She says they don't wrinkle when you do that. I don't know if that's true :p But I would think using a garment bag would be safer, so many things could go wrong if you wear it. Better wrinkles than to have a vomit/soda stain on it.

Noo :( I'm sorry... How does hold work at that school? Do you still have a good chance at getting an acceptance later?
It's alright. Going to go ahead and start prepping for a reapplication just in case. But the way it works is they re review their hold list every 2-3 weeks when he committee meets and decide if I'm accepted or not.

This works. I've done that plenty of times.

Well that's good that they review holds throughout the cycle!

Lol I don't understand people.
A few weeks ago when I got put on hold at Case, I posted something about "someone needs to post an acceptance so I know this wasn't a mistake and can move on with my life". Then today, weeks later, someone quotes that post saying they got accepted. I'd been successfully avoiding the thread cuz I didn't want to torture myself, and then I get brought back just to have it rubbed in my face that I got put on hold. So unnecessary.

I majored in psych and and biochem. Both had easy and hard parts. Both are important in their own ways. Its comparing apples to oranges in a sense. I don't go out of my way to preach about the ease/difficulty or importance of either; however, it can be very annoying when people **** on your major when they have no clue about what they're talking about. (which is why some people may feel the need to preach about it).

On another note, I could see being an English major as hard for many people after proof reading some of my peers assignments :bang:
