UPMC, which runs the largest network of cancer centers in Western Pennsylvania, called the action “an egregious contract violation.”
The tide will turn

If this becomes a trend, it could reverse the trend of hospitals buying pain practices or any specialty that does procedures in office. They won't want us if they can only get the paltry in office fees we get in office.

Could make the employed option worse.

ive thought that the only practices that should be considered HOPD are ones located on a hospital campus that are essentially "required" to see Medicaid/Medicare. one per hospital system. these few practices should be the only ones that get HOPD facility fees.

I don't know what this means as far as a national trend....
But here in Western PA, highmark and upmc are at WAR.
