When is the technical "first batch" for TMDSAS?
TMDSAS has no batch numbers.
For AADSAS they mail out applications to schools every Friday after the first batch is sent.

TMDSAS sends applications immediately after they're processed. Since Texas schools don't start reviewing apps until mid July that would be the first batch I guess.

My alma mater uses +/-. Tmdsas said to enter it as it appears on your transcript. They will convert it to neutral letters. Example:
C- = C
B+ = B
Etc

If you have a lot of -'s, your calculated GPA will be much higher. :)
Sucks for us B+ people though...

I only have one A- grade compared to like four B+ grades -> lower TMDSAS gpa

It is painful huh? I have a C- in physics 2 and called up Baylor and Houston. They didn't really care since it was physics lol

To be honest, I'm still not sure why physics 1 and 2 are a prereq for dental school. SO GLAD I never have to take another physics class again...

It's fine. You can send them yourself to TMDSAS as long as they're sealed and tagged along with the request form.
Thanks man I gave them a call the very next day I posted on this thread, and you are indeed CORRECT. They told me the same thing: As long as they're sealed and attached with a SINGLE copy of the downloadable form it should be just fine. Thanks!

Yeah, that was my thought initially & I'm still very much on the fence about it. An Endo I shadowed said he has friends that went there & they loved it. He acted like the debt was very manageable, especially with an extra year of practice. Taking all that on still makes me uncomfortable.

Surely we'll be swept up by Texas schools asap though & never have to worry about it! ...surely...

I love the optimism! Fingers crossed for everyone in this thread!!!

Isn't the HPSP program very competitive?

Extremely.

Yeah they verify LORs, Transcripts, DAT scores, and application independently.

After you pay your 140$ and submit your application will go into a Queue.
On the homepage you will see three dates.

Currently processing applications submitted on : XX/XX/XXXX
Currently processing transcripts received on : XX/XX/XXXX
Currently processing LORs received on: XX/XX/XXXX

These dates are the current processing times.

Even if your DAT scores aren't in everything will start being processed without them.
And when your scores come in the Texas schools will be notified and your application will be updated with your DAT scores.

Advance is the honorary TMDSAS rep. Three cheers for Advance!!!!! Thanks for sharing this.

OMG so true!!! Lenz's law, Magnetic Fields, Electric Fields, Mirrors, Lenses....NEVER AGAIN!

I still have nightmares about that class...ugh.

The trauma is real.

Wouldn't the applications still be looked at under some kind of "first come-first reviewed" basis? Even though they may not start to review apps until mid July, I would think that they would begin with the applications in the order that were submitted in (March submissions, then June submissions, etc.). So wouldn't it still be important to submit as soon as possible?

I understand why you would think that. Based on my experience from last cycle the date submitted really has very little bearing on when/if you get an interview.

Last cycle I submitted my TMDSAS app around mid August, it was fully processed and submitted to the Texas schools on 9/14/2015. I completed my Baylor secondary on 9/16/2015 and got an interview invite the following week on 9/21. Despite my "late" submission I got a quick response from the school in less than a week. This is why i put very little importance on submission dates. Of course the earlier you submit the better, as there will be more interview dates available, but don't rush the app just for the sake of finishing early. Make sure to take your time to submit the highest quality app you can.

I know this question is common but I want to double check. One of my recommenders submitted his letter on interfolio last week and I sent it electronically to TMDSAS on Wednesday. Interfolio told me that it was sent but it still says not received on TMDSAS. Do you guys know if there's anything I need to do or does it take a while for TMDSAS to say they received it?

I think you need to wait at least a couple of days for TMDSAS to process your letters, even if you submit them electronically via Interfolio.

I don't like it, but I'm biased because both my cGPA and sGPA are lower using the TMDSAS calculations...

Yeah it makes me so salty because I'm missing out on a whole 0.10 points just because I got a B+ (89.45%) in one class instead of an A- (89.50% or higher).

I COMPLETELY understand how you feel! I was so salty at first when I calculated my TMDSAS GPAs (still salty I guess), but at this point I just want to get this application process over with and chill

It was interesting because my sGPA was way lower because of how they calculate it. Then they classified a bunch of my Sci classes as "other science" and my BCMP GPA went up ha. I'm not complaining about that!

I'm not the most tech savy person but would it be appropriate to have someone take a picture of me in a suit to use for TMDSAS? If so, is it possible to crop it on a Samsung S5 to make it less than 100kb?

Does it have to be a full portrait? I was thinking just one of the face?

It didn't specify but a lot of people just said that they just want to see what you look like professionally. A lot went with the upper half of the body.

Yes.
That's how I got my picture taken too.
Not even full suit, just the upper body. Lol

You're going to laugh when you see the AADSAS app. It's so basic compared to TMDSAS

Do I have to put something in for "Indicate future activities you plan on participating in between now and August 2017?"

I don't really have any plans set yet lol.

On a serious note, do you think us Texans have to worry about it? I talked to my dentist and she is confident that the lobbyist in TX are fighting the good fight.

I asked every dentist I shadowed/voluntereed under, both GPs and specialists, and literally none of them supported the idea of midlevel providers in dentistry. So I guess there's that?
