Hey guys and girls,

I've just had thoughts about my EC's and whether I've done enough or not.
After browsing through this forum and reading about people with publications and volunteering in Africa, I have been doubting myself and whether or not I am a competitive candidate for medical school. So since high school...

Volleyball Team - 3 years
Band - 2 years
Student Council - 2 years
Hospital Escort - 3 years
Medical Clinic Assistant - 1 year
Church Retreat Leader - A month
Distress Centre Volunteer - 2 years
Shadowed various doctors and dentists for a few months now

I am hoping to gain some research experience and continue with some of the clubs I am involved in at the moment. I was just wondering if this would be a good amount of EC's to have. I know that it's about the quality of these experiences and how they've impacted me, but i was just hoping if you guys/girls could give me some feedback and suggest anything i should do to build up my resume, or recommend anything that you have done in the past

Thanks for all the help! :)

You shouldn't include stuff from high school on your application. Adcoms don't care about them in general.

I think your list is excellent, with greater than average longevity for a number of the activities. If you are able to add a research activity (which is not required, but which 71% of acceptees listed), and the hobbies/artistic endeavors you already engage in, the list would be quite comprehensive.

And any HS activity that continued into the college years is fine to include.
