Hey all who interviewed, I hear a lot about the style of the interview making people nervous... Is there more anyone can say about that? Like what to expect and what not without going into detail?

Yes! Received the II yesterday and no one has picked up or called me back!II received, but I tried to call the number to schedule the interview and no one answered. Has this happened to anyone else?
Anyone who has interviewed... Do you suggest attending the morning or afternoon interview session??

Seconded. And also when are interviews being scheduled for at this point in the cycle? Possibly February/March?

I received the II yesterday as well and have tried calling multiple times to schedule it today. Regardless, I am ecstatic about the opportunity to interview at Touro Nevada!

I got through today, January 26th PM it is!Call and ask to be transferred to Elizabeth Peralta, she finally got me through to schedule!
Just an FYI to upcoming interviewees, after going through this thread and the email that was sent out by Touro, I tried researching the Wingate hotel that was listed. The property is actually no longer owned by Wingate and instead the telephone number brings you to an independently operated hotel (Henderson Inn & Suites?) that still provides shuttle service to and from the airport as well as to the Touro campus. There is also complimentary breakfast and discounted room rates.
Being the frugal college graduate that I am, I called the other two for comparison and can tell you that the Hilton does offer a shuttle to and from the airport as well as the campus, but it does not have a complimentary breakfast (may be ideal for the AM interviewees). The Hampton Inn offers no shuttle, but it does include a complimentary breakfast.
In summary, all hotels offer the same discounted rate for Touro interviewees (~$79 +tax), but not all provide the same amenities. With names like Hampton and Hilton, I can only assume that the "quality" is there, but I'm shaky about the former Wingate property being independent. Those who stayed at Wingate, could you please PM me and let me know what the accommodations were like? I'd greatly appreciate it for trying to arrange my January interview.
Best of luck to all!
Haha I remember when I walked in I was utterly confused. I didn't know it was a casino....I'd recommend staying at Fiesta Henderson! I stayed there for my interview. Right down the street and extremely cheap. (OK, so it's a casino, but hey, super convenient and inexpensive! Plus decent accommodations.)
I wanted to buy some touro gear when I chose touro as my school so that I could send a box to my family as a way to announce my choice. Since I live in Vegas I called the book store (3x) to ask if they sell touro gear and there was no answer and no one returned my call when i left a message. I ended up making shirts using a logo form google and they turned out great...but I would still like some official gear. Are there any places online that I can buy some touro gear? I would really love to get a t-shirt or mug!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about it. I'm from orange county, went to college in LA, and moved to vegas, where my boyfriend is from, after graduating. He bought a house in vegas a year ago and we live in it together so it's very nice that we don't have to sell it and uproot our lives. I will have a longer than ideal commute, but it's a small price to pay. What's your status at TUNCOM?Ugh I wish I was in your shoes right now. I'd love to stay in the west coast.

I can't imagine it being a problem for people entering in 2015, because you don't start rotations until 3rd year. It could be an issue for those entering in 2017 (class of 2021) since they may have to compete for spots. So I just read that UNLV and Roseman University are both starting MD programs in Las Vegas with about 60 students each school in 2017.
Will the TUNCOM rotation spots be affected by this? I'm actually very concerned by this because for the class of 2019 people, it will go from being the only med school in Vegas to all of the sudden one of 3 med schools(4 if you count UN Reno)... I hope TUNCOM does not turn into Touro CA with not enough rotation spots....
Anyone can speak about this? possibly recent interviewees or current students?
Thanks!
Ya I keep telling myself that too haha. But I was worried that if they would prematurely cancel rotation sites..I can't imagine it being a problem for people entering in 2015, because you don't start rotations until 3rd year. Our Dean of Medicine gave us a talk about the possibility of Roseman and UNLV opening up medical schools. He told us not to worry because any changes won't take place until 2019 (when 2017 class goes on clerk ships). He feels Roseman opening is a given as they are a private university (as is TUN) with students paying to run the school, UNLV requires state funds, which are hard to come by in one of the poorest states in the US. Their is a physician shortage here but the issue isn't training medical students its the lack of GME (residencies). Most of TUN students do not remain in Nevada but that's ok since we are not publicly funded. State funds should go towards GME to help elevate the physician shortage here. Roseman and TUN have a good working relationship as we have faculty from Roseman teaching as adjucts, and we have faculty teaching as adjucts there. We have residencies at Valley so our main clerkships won't drop us (we wouldn't drop ourselves) Some of the other affiliated hospitals might but we are a known quantity here, and I doubt preceptors would drop us for an unknown right away. Vegas is a big city it can handle a additional medical school or two, plus we don;t have Caribbean students to deal with.So I just read that UNLV and Roseman University are both starting MD programs in Las Vegas with about 60 students each school in 2017.

Valley is TUNs teaching hospital, and UMC is UNRs teaching hospital, we can do clerkships at UMC but they count as away clerkships I believe.Hey, thank you for your input. It's a relief to see that the Dean is very much aware of this situation and is staying on top of this. As long as Valley is secure then I think it will be fine since it is one of the two teaching hospitals(other being UMC)? Or is sunrise hospital and other ones teaching hospitals as well?
I interview here Wednesday, so I'd be interested in any advice as well!I interview here in one week from today. Can anyone give me any advice? Things to prep about?
By " away" rotation, do you mean elective rotation? Are they the same thing? Thanks!Valley is TUNs teaching hospital, and UMC is UNRs teaching hospital, we can do clerkships at UMC but they count as away clerkships I believe.
Away rotation (sometimes called audition rotations) are clerkships done outside the home institution. I think you can do 5 clerkships "away" from TUN, mainly they are electives but certain core clerkships can be done elsewhere too I believe. Most student do "away" rotations the beginning of fourth year to increase their likelihood of matching into that program.By " away" rotation, do you mean elective rotation? Are they the same thing? I think this is for people to improve their chances of applying so this doesn't pertain to you!Just got an email about TUNs master of health science program (I am an accepted DO 19) is this something people do during medical school or is it for people trying to better their application before applying?
Is there a class of 2019 Facebook page for those who know they are attending?

Also, were people asking about Touro merchandise? They have some at the bookstore but I can't find any online on the bookstore website...but I'm not sure why.
I sent them through Interfolio.I'm gonna sound really dumb for this question... but how do I send LoR to TUN? When I clicked on "RECOMMENDATION PROVIDER LIST" it just shows "Not Applicable for Non-Matriculated Applicants"
I'm really sorry if this has been mentioned before, but what's the interview-acceptance ratio of this school?
I remember calculating/estimating and I think it was around 50/50. Probably more favorable odds earlier in the cycle...
