Hello All:

In passage #11 of TPR Science workbook O. Chem question number 5, why would the answer be D as opposed to C. I know that both choice A and B are garbage, but I was certain C was correct. I am really not sure that I am following (understanding) this explanation:

"...The double bond substituents in the compound are not the same as the substituents on the two product ketones (choice C is wrong.)

I thought this was a very easy question, until I got it wrong. Could someone please explain, why D, not the straight forward answer C? Thanks.

Now looking at the two answer choices C and D, C would definitely be missing a carbon, but I still don't see why D would be correct.
