Has anyone heard good things about Trinity College of Medicine in Ireland?

Is this a reputable school that would allow a U.S. citizen like myself gain good residency positions in U.S.?

Also, does their medical degree transfer to an MD with U.S. residency or will it stay MsCh..ect

Thank you for your time ;)

The answer to those is "yes." In each entering class, there are about 15 North Americans who have a wide range of experiences, most planning on returning to the US, although some end up staying in Ireland or the UK to work (significant other, like the lifestyle, etc). You will graduate with an MBBChBAO (bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery, bachelor of obstetrics) which is equivalent to a US M.D. and you will be able to use the initials "MD" for simplicity's sake when you return to the US.

DO's can't use the title MD because their osteopathic vs. allopathic doctors. There's a delineation between the two fields and the "theories" or history behind those two areas although basically the same profession. MBBS physicians are still allopathic doctors. Just because you're entitled to use MD doesn't necessarily mean all physicians will choose to. But just so patients don't get confused with the letters and their equivalency, some choose to take on the MD title vs. the MBBS or MBBChBAO.

Thank You very much for your help :)

Hey Toks, quick question. Only Europeans can apply to colleges using CAO or can anybody use the system? Thanks

sorry i didnt reply on time i think most of the colleges you have to apply through the cao and the college's international office except from trinity you apply directly to trinity.
