TY vs. Prelim-IM

I am trying to decide between applying for a TY or a Prelim-IM spot. I will also applying to PM&R but am having a hard time finalizing my program list for TY vs. Prelim-IM spots.

Is one easier to obtain a spot in versus another? At many programs that I am interested, they seem to provide similar training.

TY is usually harder to get compared to prelims.
Reason being that it's traditionally much cush-ier and laid back, so lots of grads prefer that over prelims before moving to their advanced programs.

there are Tys that are worse than prelim programs.. all depends on where you are intersted in applying..

Are there TYs that do not satisfy what advanced programs require for an intern year (e.g. not enough medicine ward months)? Has anyone ever heard of this being an issue?
