Canada has FINALLY released the List of Needed Specialties for 2015:

http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hcs-sss/alt_formats/pdf/hhr-rhs/postgrad-postdoc/cat_b-list-liste-eng.pdf

Once again they have waited until two months after the US Match has started to release this ridiculous quota with no information as to how it was derived.

The quota for Internal Medicine fellowship in Nephrology has been set to ZERO! So if you've already interviewed for that fellowship Canada has thrown a giant middle finger up at you basically saying "Sorry, you should have applied to something else, try again next year."

They way the Statement of Need program is administered in Canada is insane, and the first-come first-served policy has the potential to ruin all of your hard work and sacrifice so please don't let yourself fall victim to it.

Best of luck to everybody applying.

Also, good luck to the ONE Canadian IMG that is apparently allowed to Match into Ortho Surg in the US. Everybody else who matches but doesn't get THE Statement of Need should have apparently known four years in advance that Canada would only need one additional resident in 2015.

Oops, I guess that's your fault according to Canadian bureaucrat logic. No exceptions to be made because F-U, that's why.

To be fair, some people will be able to get the H1-B visa's, and not have to worry about Canada's desires at all.
