Urgent what is the steroid dose for sudden hearing loss

Hi Ent colleagues what is the recommended steroid dose for sudden hearing loss (sensoryneural) due to viral illness . It is bilateral after high fever headache probably viral meningitis . Hearing loss was confirmed with audiogram . Thank you

The standard dose is 60mg prednisone po daily. I would typically do this as an outpatient while waiting for an MRI and autoimmune workup. But, this sounds a little unusual and I would need to do a thorough evaluation to know if the patient should be admitted to do a LP, MRI, and in that case maybe IV steroids would be preferable. Decadron 8mg IV q8h is my go-to high dose IV corticosteroid regimen. Diabetes complicates things and transtympanic steroids can play a role. I do 16mg/ml dexamethasone for that.
