Where did that guideline come from? :confused:

That's not how I approached VR, and I don't think I ever finished reading a passage that fast. I wouldn't have absorbed the overall meaning in that time, I don't think.
 
If you read at a "normal" or even slow pace, but don't continue reverting back to the passage to search for answers, there's plenty of time to read and answer the questions.

The going back to the passage was the hard part for me. I am a fast reader but always almost ran out of time on verbal because of this. Honestly, most of the answers aren't there.. they are inferred or main ideas, and re-searching the passage won't help.

Practice makes perfect in timing verbal. Best of :luck:!
 
As had been said, you don't need to read a verbal passage in 3 minutes. Heck, I usually took around 4 minutes. The key is to not re-read the passage. Go for one slow read and get everything the first time.
