We are Ryan and Jen, a husband and wife team with a long academic background, detailed below. During our careers we have written many applications and grants, and we have served on admissions and hiring committees. This experience has given us insight into the qualities that admissions committees are seeking.
The service we provide is to help you communicate your achievements in a way that appeals to admissions committees. We can help you brainstorm ideas for your personal statement and activities, so that you can focus on writing up the strongest concepts right from the start. We can also review and revise your drafts, on either a “big picture” level or with fine detail – your choice.

- Full-tuition Dean’s Merit Scholarship to the University of Michigan Medical School (Class of 2016).
- Member of the University of Michigan Medical School Admissions Committee.
- Practiced law for four years in the ligation department of a top Boston law firm. Became skilled in writing concise and persuasive briefs.
- JD from Harvard Law School (2005).
- Published her law school application essay in the Princeton Review’s book, “Law School Essays that Made a Difference” (2003).
- BA in Math & Psychology from Wellesley College (2002).
- Incoming Internal Medicine resident at Duke University.
- Full-tuition Dean’s Merit Scholarship to the University of Michigan Medical School (Class of 2016).
- Post Doctoral Fellowship in Cardiovascular Genetics at Stanford University (2012-13).
- PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Harvard University (2009).
- BS in Chemistry from UC Berkeley (2000).
- Years of experience in science writing, including publications in Nature Chemical Biology, PLoS, and Angewandte Chemie.
