Hi. I'm the assistant to an established TV writer who is looking for a little bit of information for a pilot he is writing. Is anyone available to answer a couple very simple/quick questions (or can anyone point me in the direction of someone who can?)

In the story, a man's wife went in for a routine breast augmentation and the anesthesiologist screwed up (or something) and she is now in a permanent coma (for 2+ years at least).

Here's what he needs to know:

- Could that actually happen, and what would have to go wrong for it to happen?
- Is it possible to be in a coma that long and not be hooked up to a ventilator? What would the life-support situation have to be (minimum).
- And what is the reality of the facility she would have to stay at? Hospital? Hospice? Home care?

Thanks so much in advance!!!
