Do not discuss specific questions.

The AAMC takes this very seriously.

Please use common sense when posting on the SDN forums. Copyrighted materials (which include MCAT questions) should not be posted without the express consent of the copyright holder (the AAMC).

Additionally, by discussing specific questions, you may be giving an unfair advantage to future MCAT examinees.

Because posting copyrighted material on SDN is a violation of our Terms of Service (TOS), we will close threads or delete posts when we are notified of copyright violations. Repeated violations will result in closure of accounts and possible IP bans.
Do not post ads.

Please make a note that "For sale" or "Advertising" messages should be posted in the "For Sale & Advertisements" forum only.

Please notify the moderators every time you see such an ad so we can take action accordingly. Advertisers will be banned immediately and their product name and/or website URL stripped from past and future posts.
Do not promote illegal file sharing.

Please refrain from mentioning illegal exchange of copyrighted MCAT materials (namely downloading from file sharing networks) in any fashion. Your post will be edited, potentially deleted, and in some cases might warrant your posting priveleges being revoked.

Kaplan and other MCAT prep courses will prosecute anyone sharing proprietary materials.

Do not post false "Scores are now available" threads.

Any guests that do this will have their account suspended for a one week period.

I would like to welcome all the newly registered users to SDN and thank all of the veteran SDNers for helping to provide helpful information. =) For those interested in medicine, SDN provides highly beneficial info for pre-meds, med students, as well as residents.

New MCAT Sub-Forum

We are pleased to announce the newly added Study Question Q&A MCAT Sub-Forum. In this forum you can get help and general tips on physical and biological sciences as well as the verbal and writing sections.

I would like to welcome Shrike and QofQuimica as SDN's new Volunteer Advisors. Lorelei has also graciously volunteered her help. Here is some background on these users:

Shrike is an expert instructor on multiple standardized tests--and the MCAT is no exception. Shrike is currently a TPR MCAT instructor for the Physics, Verbal, and Biology sections. He aced the Physical Sciences portion of the MCAT and is offering his expertise in a Physics thread.

QofQuimica has taught MCAT courses for Kaplan for many years. She scored a 43 on the MCAT (since 2003, no person has scored greater than a 43) and she is finishing up her PhD in Chemistry this year. "Q" is offering her help for both General and Organic Chemistry.

In addition to these mods, Lorelei is volunteering her help. Like QofQuimica, Lorelei also scored a 43. With a perfect 15 on the MCAT Verbal, she offers her sage advice on this portion of the MCAT.

Donate to SDN

As a non-profit website, SDN site operations and server space are paid for by two types of user donations: Angels and Donors. The more Angels and Donors we have, the better job we can do at expanding smoothly as the site grows.

Here are the perks of becoming a Donor/Angel
- PM inbox capacity increases to 250 messages
- increased upload quota
- user picture option enabled in profile
- ability to close your own threads
- Angels do not view the banner or text based advertisements

I encourage you to become an Angel or Donor. You can subscribe to become a donor for $7.50 or an Angel for $20. This subscription lasts for one year. If interested, please visit:

No pressure, no pushing, no obligations... Of course, if you don't donate...

The kitten gets it!!!

To those waiting on MCAT scores:

I wish you the best of luck! :luck: And for the new users, don't forget to visit the Pre-Allopathic (MD) and Pre-Osteopathic (DO) forums to get advice from many of our knowledgeable users.

See you 'round SDN,

Phil Anthropist
Pre-Allopathic Co-Moderator

Thank you Phil Anthropist. :) We would like to invite all pre-health students to browse the MCAT Study Questions Subforum and ask questions. In addition, we are always looking for more people to help answer questions in the Subforum. If you are interested in answering questions, we ask that you please wait until you have taken the MCAT (or other pre-health test) as well as all four pre-requisite courses (a year each of biology, chemistry, organic, and physics). This is necessary so that you can give knowledgeable advice to current students studying for these tests. Note that we do not have any minimum score requirement to help answer questions. Graduate students who would like to answer science knowledge questions in their areas of expertise are welcome to do so regardless of whether they have taken the MCAT yet.

There used to be 8 threads on MCAT mnemonics, I've combined them all into one master thread, edited it a little bit and made it a sticky. If you see anything missing from the mnemonics thread, feel free to add it.

When looking at the thread don't just try to memorize everything on there, focus on learning the concepts behind the mnemonics. Thats when a mnemonic can really become powerful and help hold things together for you. Good luck guys!

Since so many posters want to know about previous students' experiences with various test prep methods, we are in the process of creating a series of rating/feedback threads for future students to use when evaluating different study methods. If you have prepared for the MCAT and would like to rate your test prep classroom course, online course, or self-study method, please go to the appropriate thread and do so. The feedback threads are each linked in a sticky at the top of the forum. All threads are polls from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best. Please do NOT vote in any of the feedback polls unless you have used that particular study method. An extra thank you in advance to those of you who choose to leave feedback for future students.

If you've just taken the MCAT, congrats. Feel free to hang out with other users here in the MCAT forum to discuss MCAT issues. However, please be mindful of the forum rules: you may NOT post any specific MCAT questions or answers, and you may NOT ask other users to post any specific MCAT questions or answers either. In addition, you may NOT discuss the specifics of any question or passage, including information not directly related to the answer of a question. Anything beyond a listing of the general topics covered is not allowed.

In case it's not clear to anyone what is or is not allowed, you MAY post general topics (ex. I had a passage about rickets) and your feelings (ex. I thought the rickets passage was very hard.)

You may NOT post specific MCAT questions (ex. did you have a question about what causes rickets?), specific answers (ex. I said rickets was caused by a bacterium), and you may absolutely, positively NOT ask other people to post specific MCAT questions or answers either (ex. what did you answer for the question that asked what causes rickets??). You also should not discuss specific details of passages (ex. how do you interpret the graph about the risks of developing rickets?) or patterns of answers (ex. did you pick a lot of Bs for the passage about rickets?)

Posting specific details about passages and/or questions may give future test takers an unfair advantage, since the AAMC may reuse passages. It also violates the AAMC's copyrights, as well as the SDN TOS.

Posters who do not follow the forum rules will be postheld for one week. (For the noobs, that means your account is put on hold and you can't post on SDN for a week.) Please don't make us do that. Thanks to all users for your cooperation.

Our rules on specific questions are here to protect YOU.

However, if you insist on violating these policies despite our multiple warnings, SDN cannot and will not protect you from being subpoenaed by the AAMC.

The AAMC and other organizations do go after people that post question specifics. You risk having your MCAT score invalidated and never going to medical school in the US.

Do not take that risk by posting a specific question/answer.
