Hi all, I'm an Illinois resident (specifically southern/central) looking at my chances for medical school.
cGPA- 4.0 Bio major
MCAT: 37
200+ volunteer hours
100+ shadow hours
Co-founder of school quartet
School orchestra
Various clubs at school
MCAT tutor
Research: A little different, examining Nazi neuroscience experiments in different contexts (mainly ethics), in works of publishing a paper (ETA end of summer) will be first author.

School List:
UIC
SIU
WashU
Mayo
Hopkins
UCLA
UCSD
Stanford
UCSF
Northwestern
UChicago

I realize that some of these schools are probably a long shot, but I feel pretty comfortable getting in to SIU and having a shot at UIC.
Thanks for the help!

I think the research heavy schools like WashU will want some research that shows you learned something about the scientific method. I don't know how they will view social science/historical research, although I think it's interesting. Otherwise, ECs look cookie cutter, but I like musician aspect. I'd add some more medium tier schools. Scratch SIU if you're not from southern ILL.

As always, one should add mid-tier schools to be safe; however, none of these schools jump out at me as being a "long shot" for you based on your numbers and extracurriculars. Congratulations on your highly impressive credentials!

Thanks both of you for the input!
Yeah I am looking into starting in a bio-medical research lab during my gap year and definitely adding more mid-tier schools would probably be smart!
