What are some of the greatest challenges in studying dentistry?

Can you please tell me some of the greatest challenges that you faced/ face while studying dentistry? What are new things that you discovered about dentistry/ dental school that you didn't know in undergrad?

Histo sucks!!! But to me the "dental" classes such as occlusion and morphology and the basic restorative classes have been fun so far. I'm a 1st year student at UKY and it seems like they try to give us very light clinical experience asap. We have placed sealants on elementary children, already started clerkships etc. It's a nice break to keep you interested and not too caught up in didactics.

While in dental school, the most difficult task I had was scheduling patients.

What I discovered about dentistry that I never knew is that patient satisfaction has no correlation with quality of work.
