What happens when you don't match?

I posted this in international section but no one gets on there, so my question is, what happens when you don't match? like if I went to SGU, and didn't match for a residency spot, what are my options? Thanks

You can take a year off and do research to improve your application, you can scramble into a residency, or you can find a transitional year program and repeat the match. Stay on shore.
