Hi all,

I don’t mean to be redundant as I’m sure there has been a ridiculous amount of similar posts so I apologize in advance but could use some help. I have no preference to in-state/out-of-state and plan to apply VERY broad. I just need some help crossing out the schools that will more than likely disregard my application due to being an out of state resident, low stats, or anything else . Also, I’m not naïve and understand there are multiple weaknesses in my application, constructive criticism and any way to improve upon these weaknesses within the next month or so is appreciated.

PCOM
NYCOM
CCOM
Rowan SOM
Nova
KCUMB
UNE COM
Touro NY
LECOMs (all campuses)

Those are off the top of my head.

I would focus on PCOM, NYCOM, and Rowan SOM, mainly becomes they put a greater emphasis on applicants from the tristate area.

Thank for the replies, toptomato those schools will definitely be on my list. I had planned on applying to about 20-25 schools, would you say that's a relatively good number? Which schools would you say don't waste my time applying because their regional preference is too heavy?

That's a pretty good number, i'd be surprised if you didn't get in somewhere. As far as regional bias goes, I believe all the schools on the west coast have some bias. I'd also not waste any time applying to MSU, or Ohio

You're fine for any DO school, except AZCOM. I can't recommend LUCOM.

Just curious, why AZCOM specifically? Wouldn't the same rules apply to CCOM as well?

Consider the OOS tuition at public schools such as MSUCOM, ROWAN and WVCOM before applying. They are a good buck higher and worth filtering out for cost alone. Also consider the 5 year commitment at Ohio COM to stay in Ohio.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, GORO why are you weary of LUCOM, regional bias or something else?

NYCOM, RowanSOM, PCOM come straight to mind. I think if you apply on time you shouldn't have trouble getting interview invites. I would say apply to 10 DO schools or so and apply to some NY state MD schools to see what happens, you may get lucky.

anyone admitted to AZCOM with a 28 MCAT or less, please respond to this thread.

Lol you dont need Goro to specifically answer this. Just google "LUCOM SDN."
You're right, didn't have to search very hard to see why you can't recommend LUCOM, thanks for making me aware of that.
