Why Pulm/CC?

To all the fellows and attendings, I was wondering why you all went into pulm/CC? I'm considering applying for pulm/CC fellowships eventually, still just an intern, but I like the ICU and managing really sick patients. Also, is there anything in particular pulm/CC PDs look at when it comes time to apply/interviwe?
