Hey Guys

So I am in IM, second year, have always loved cardiology. However everyone I speak to won't give me a break about how hard it is, how rough the lifestyle is and how I would balance this out with childbearing and raising/ family life overall. I am in a very male dominant program both in IM and Cardiology and I am yet to see a role model in this regard. I mean a female cardiologist with a family and see how this can be done. I would absolutely love if I could hear from one or if someone who knows one could comment on if this is doable

I know several female cardiologists, all of whom are highly competent and well respected. However, the ones who have kids didn't have them until after fellowship. I'm sure you can have kids and go through fellowship, there are people who do this. But, my sense is that you'd better be good at functioning on minimal sleep if that's the case.
