Hi, im in my 3rd year of dental school in prague now, n i want to work in australia when i finish. Theres a lot of british students in my class, and they tell me that in the uk, a dental graduate often "follows" a dentist for about a year before they start working. Does anyone know if thats the case in australia as well? Or could i just apply for a job like any other dentist would (after i pass the ADC examination) ?

Does anyone have any experiences with this ADC exam btw? :)

You can just apply for a job once you pass the ADC exams.

Don't know about the exam experience.. but I know it involves English test, written theory exams and practical exams.

Hi, I am a prosthodontist from Iran and I like to move to Australia in order to work there, can anyone tell me what kind of exams should I take to get a work permit there(As a prosthodontist not just a general dentist)? Tnx

You would need to get your qualification assessed by the Australian Dental Council (http://www.adc.org.au/) and followed by English test, written assessment and clinical assessment.

I don't think they have any special leeway for the specialists. To get a work permit, then you would also have to consider your visa of entry into Australia. First get a valid dental registration (by completing all of the above assessments), then get licensed as a dentist in Australia, followed by getting a formal job offer and employment visa in Australia.

hi Dr
i would recommend you pass English exam (OET /IELTS ) in Iran ,and then try a near spot like Turkey or Singapore for preliminary exam ,mean while you can apply for an Aus visa either short student visa or working visa. once you receive the exams result you can come to Aus and sit for clinical exam.
there is a bridge course in Melbourne for doctors who pass preliminary exam that I highly recommend it.
best of luck

Even if one passes these exams and is licensed, what is the possibility of getting a visa and/or job offer? What geographical, income constraints would present themselves?

How difficult would the employment visa be once a license was granted? What sorts of offers would materialize relative to a native Aussie grad? Is it routine to get the permanent residency after the two year employment period?

Hi everyone ! I am an oversea trained dentist wishing to take ADC exam too. I would like to know if there are many overseas dentists have actually passed the ADC exams? Like what will the passing/failing rates be? And roughly how much time do we need to prepare for each of the exam? Many thanks!

For the english test the ADC used the ILTES. But If you want to apply for specialist you normally must have at least 2 years experiences as a general practitioner.
