Hi! I'm from Sweden! My country is very different from yours. I'm curious:
would you LOVE working as an MD in my country or do you think it seems just awful?

Facts:
In order to become a licensed specialist you complete med school (5½) years. After that 2
years of family medicine, surgery, psych, and IM. After that you begin your 5 year residency. After that you are a licensed physician and you will never have to do one single test ever again in your life.

Your work 40 hours per week at a salary of 110k per year First 7 years something like 80k. 40% income tax.
Extra calls means x1.5 your normal salary or you can take it out as time off from work (1 day extra work
will translate into 1½ days off). There is no malpractice cost.

You have 5 weeks vacation every year. As a parent you have the right to be free from work for 16 months divided between the mother and father.

You dress in the same clothes as the nurses do and people call you by your first name.

(this thread is part fun, part serious since I am planning on moving to the US and it would be fun to get some perspective on
what I am missing and gaining)

Also forgot to add, only 50k student loans, and from 64 until you die 50% of your salary in pension every month from the government.

Just from a monetary standpoint, No way.

I make 400K+ a year, working 28 hrs a week. No vacation for EM but I can take a week off any time I want. Making more than 300K per year makes student loans and pensions a small matter. I can easily fund my own pension with 300K+ a year. My taxes are less also.

I prefer not to dress like nurses and be called by my first name.

For the sake of discussion, assume you don't have to learn the language.

This has been a lot of fun so far. :joyful:

I dunno maybe. COL should be lower in Sweden.

Miss Sweden 2013 has a butter face, so that's a point against, although I wouldn't kick her out of my bed.

So if I made 110k after the age of 65 the gov will give me 55k a month equating to roughly 650k a year in pension?

i bet taxes there are a major bummer. No, I would love to visit though.

Hi..I am new here,I think this is the not right place to post. But your question is very funny. How can it possible???
