The short and skinny of Amendment 69:
· Single payer
· $25 billion tax increase to fund first year. This will be funded in two parts – additional 10% tax on income (payroll and non-payroll investment income) and 10% payroll taxes, of which 7% is paid by the employer and 3% paid by the employee
· Entire program governed by a 20 person board who decides everything from what is covered, to what providers will be paid. No fee schedules released yet, but rumor has it they would be shooting for roughly 120% of Medicare.
· No government oversight and can only be removed from the board by a board vote – no recourse for action if the program is mishandled.
Can this really be happening here in Colorado? Almost all the politicians, including the democrats are against this.
