This question has probably been answered in different forms, but basically, can lackluster fourth year elective grades (which came back after ERAS, at the end of interview season) affect your chances of matching?

Most schools' registrars don't send updated grades after the interview season is underway. But what about residency programs--do they ever ask for updated grades after interviews, before submitting their final rank list?

I won't start the discussion on what feels like unfairness in grading, but anyone else feel that evaluators for electives are harsher on grading when they know that you are a fourth year and not interviewing for their specialty?🙁

No one cares about fourth year grades. I have never heard of programs asking you to update your transcript.

That's a bummer that your evaluators are discriminating against you for not going into their specialty.

Oh yes they can and some do.

There have been situations of students failing to complete requirements for graduation etc and programs asking for 4th year transcripts from students whom they have already matched or are ranking.

I could understand them asking post-match to make sure you graduated, but programs will really ask before rank lists are due? That seems extremely low-yield to me, unless they only ask people with poor grades or those who have repeated a class due to failure.

Why would you send them or update them on your lackluster grades?

Did you fail something? I think programs want to make sure you pass every rotation so you can start residency on time.

It is standard to ask for them post-match, but there have been reported cases of them asking for them before ranking. Typically for the situations you've described - students for whom they have some suspicion that they're not doing well or "fluffing" up their final year schedule.
