Hey guys,
So I'm getting ready to apply this cycle and im kinda worried as to what I should do.
Im a senior (graduating fall 2016 tho because of a lame requirement issue)

I go to a maryland university and am a maryland resident

Overall GPA 3.4
Science GPA ~3.1-3.2 (based on this upcoming semester's grades)
DAT 22 AA
....Multiple Cs' in (3 Total, 1 D in cell bio retaken to a B >.>)
Trend is all over the place. Good some semesters, bad some, no real upward trend. I'm hoping to get a 4.0 in my last semester but idk if that means much.

Shadowing hours: Will be around ~110
Volunteer Hours: ~200 hours
Leadership: On 3 different clubs, soccer intramural team captain 1 year

So basically I was going to apply this upcoming cycle but im really worried as to wut to do because my science GPA is so low. Should I not even bother applying and wait till I graduate in fall? I was going to take more science calsses in fall to boost by science gpa up to like a mid 3.2/possible low 3.3

OR should I just stay that whole extra year (5th year of undergrad) and try to hit a 3.4 science gpa? My school isn't too expensive so its a possibility. But wouldn't it raise questions since I took so long to finish?

Any chance I'll get in if I apply early this summer?

School List:
Maryland, Howard, MW Arizona, Temple, Lecom...dont really know where to go from here (kinda hesitant about lecom too)

I think you should apply early, you have a strong overall DAT score so I think that will give you the boost you need. You could try to find a job as a dental assistant or something and then if you don't get any interviews pre-december you could always take a semester of courses to raise that GPA and show you are really working on it. I'm sure you will get some interviews though as long as you have a strong PS and good LORs
I can't say that I think intramural sports would count for leadership, but worth listing I guess

You definitely have a chance, especially if you apply early. Your DAT will stand out and helps to compensate for your GPA. You have a good number of shadowing hours, and the leadership experience looks good, too. Go for it!

I would say your chances are below average but that doesn't mean you don't have a chance, apply early, apply often and do what you can between now and June to boost your stats--mainly focus on your grades. If you can pull the GPA up even a point or two, that would really help. I think your EC's/Shadow/Volunteer hours are average, nothing outstanding but still good. Are you a minority? If not, Howard probably isn't going to be an option, if so, it's probably a really good option as your stats will be well above average. I would add in more of the private schools and apply to at least 10 schools. Do your homework on the schools, what their requirements are, etc. Also look to apply at some state schools that take out of state applicants at a reasonable rate. I wouldn't waste app money on the west coast state schools, for example, because your stats just are not high enough, etc.

I honestly think you will get a few interviews if you apply broad...

One of my friends was able to get into both VCU and Howard with those stats and her DAT was a 20. She also interviewed at NYU and UConn. I definitely think you have a chance but apply EARLY.

I would apply broadly and early, but I would say that you are pretty good. I have similar to slightly lower stats that you and have three acceptances. My app was also mailed late August. Not sure if I would have more as I have decline my other interviews and withdrew my app from the other schools.

Hey! What schools did you apply to and which do you recommend?
