Hello,
What are the best studying tools you used for physics? It has always always been my worst subject and I am very scared for OAT Physics. Any help would be highly appreciated!

Hi! I havent actually taken the OAT yet but a prep book that helped me tremendously for my physics classes in university was Cracking the OAT (from The Princeton Review). I was really weak in physics in high school but this definitely helped me understand lots of basic concepts for university 🙂

Thank you so much! Physics has always been a personal weakness of mine so I need proper foundation

Start with Chad's videos on coursesaver for review! He does a great job making the topics so easy to understand and has them organized to pace yourself for each day.
Then I would suggest the DAT bootcamp for physics problems. They are really similar to the real OAT and have perfect explanations to the questions. and its FREE! 🙂

that's great insight thanks a lot ! Are those chad's videos part of the $10 subscription or $50/mo?

Course saver is the $50.00 subscription. It a little different from the $10.00 one because it focuses more on things you would see on the test vs what you would see in a physics class. I have it and I highly recommend it

Signing up for it tonight thanks! Also if you don't mind me asking what is a good way to review for QR? I struggled overall throughout the years with math so that's why I feel physics and qr will be the most challenging for me. Thank you!

I recommend spending some extra time understanding the concepts/topics/phenomena as opposed to "plugging numbers into equations". As I tell my students, any monkey can plug numbers into a calculator, but only a human can think and understand what those numbers mean.

I just used Chad's videos on coursesaver and ended up with a 370, after doing pretty poorly in undergrad physics lol.

Did you score well on the other sections? Do you mind sharing your scores and study materials you used to prepare? Thanks in advance!

AA: 350
TS: 350
Reading comp: 380
Gen Chem: 340
Organic Chem: 310 (didnt study well for this and didnt do a lot of the material in undergrad lol)
Physics: 370
Bio: 340
QR: 330

I used Chad's videos on coursesaver for both Chems and Physics and QR, used the DAT bootcamp review notes for bio (free), and the Kaplan OAT 2020 book for the QR as well because it included comparison questions. I practiced (incl reading comp) with the practice tests that came with the Kaplan, although it was definitely harder than the real OAT. Good luck 🙂

I used Chad's for physicals as well as all the other science sections. He does a really good job of helping you understand concepts and tbh I think he over prepares you for physics, which is good. I remember the physics section on OAT practice tests I took being a lot easier than his practice problems. Definitely best to understand all the concepts and save the equation memorization for later.

Awesome scores!!! I'm currently studying using Chad's videos on Coursesaver for both Chemistry, Physics and QR. And Will be using DAT bootcamp's bio notes, what did you use to practice for bio? did you think Kaplan's practice tests were enough?

Thanks! To practice, I used the Kaplan and the released OAT test from the ADA, and a released DAT bio section. I'm a bio student so honestly I got a little cocky and just did a quick review of the bootcamp notes and a few practice tests, making note of the stuff I got wrong. If I studied a little more I probably would have done better. I think the actual OAT bio is somewhere between the Kaplan's and ADA's test, so if you can get over 300 on those you should be OK 🙂

Thanks!! 🙂 I am going over Physics right now and was wondering did you go over Chapter 24 from day 7 with interference, thin films and xray? I cant find out if its on the OAT

I recommend learning about thin films as that is the basis of anti-reflective coatings for optics.

X-ray interference is the phenomena behind X-ray diffraction, which lead to major advances in science.

I don't remember that being a large part of the OAT but I did study it 🙂
