Hi guys, looking for some advice here.

I'm in a MD program in the midwest that offers scholarly concentrations as extracurriculars to add to our learning experience and "set us apart." My question is, do residency directors actually weigh something like a scholarly concentration? or am I literally wasting my time. Thanks in advance

Is this the same as research? If so, then yes!

Idk depends on what the research concentrations let you do. For my school, our concentrations let us pick cool electives, have different experiences or have first pick of opportunities that others wouldn't. Some of these things have definitely been shown to be a benefit to residency applications but the student worked for it. It's about what matters to you in tailoring your education. If you don't think you'd benefit, then don't do it, that's totally fine too!
