are LOR's a must?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
as an img or fmg, you need 3 letters, and your personal stament minimum (so far as i know) to use eras and apply anywhere. an mspe and/or transcript are optional.

Moving to General Residency forum.

Your application is considered incomplete without letters of recommendation; this is regardless of the field and frankly, is standard in almost any professional career (ie, try to get a job as an attorney or stockbroker without references).

Some programs may review your file without LORs, some may wait until the LORs are uploaded to the server, but almost all will not make a decision on hiring or ranking you without letters.

please someone help. r these an absolute requirement? even if u r applying for family medicine? thanks in advance

yes, 3 letters of rec are required pretty much everywhere. not sure why you mentioned family medicine... they want/deserve solid candidates as much as any other specialty.

Thankyou kim.

MLW, I agree . I understand the significance now and realize that yes, the LOR is really the only way programs can find out alittle about your personality . txs

Why wouldn't they be? You needed letters of recommendation to get into medical school.
