UVA: Updated on the 1st post, and school-specific thread made.

General question for you guys: Should I delete the link to the LOR Requirements? I don't know if that's really that useful. Same for the e-mail address for the admissions office. Does anybody use that info?

(Again, this stems from the 1st post getting cluttered since more schools have been added)

Just let me know what format is the most helpful...

LOR Requirements are great... Don't really use the e-mail link... thats my vote... Good job Shemarty with everything, really appreciate it! 👍

The LORs should be about the same for 90% of schools, so I wouldn't worry about that. I would just focus on the 2ndary questions.

Again: THANKS for your hard work....

I agree about the LOR's mostly being the same... maybe just post those that are different or Grad school requirements? I know I use it mainly to find out oddities i the LOR requirements... IE Medical College of Wisconsin's requirements for if there is a graduate program on your application...

That being said, it is a lot of work so you could totally take off the LOR's and the links, and just do prompts... 🙂

Indiana just sent me an email stating they received my app....I guess they will send the secondary later if im "qualified"

Got the same notification. I think they only send secondaries to those invited for interviews? Maybe I'm thinking of another school?

I believe this is true. (Also true of Vandy.)

Other users here have confirmed that Indiana only sends secondaries to those applicants who will be invited for an interview. That's nice for a change. 👍

I stand corrected!

And yeah, I wish way more schools screened...at least I wouldn't feel like my primary is totally useless as I do for many schools for which the secondary asks THE SAME EXACT QUESTIONS as the primary. And I wouldn't waste the money. Sigh.

Has anyone received AMCAS receipt certifications from Vandy, Duke, or UNC?

Im glad that all the NC schools screen Presec.

So does each school get it's own thread? Because if it does, I can't find the SLU one. Personally, I like having a thread for each school...

Okay, I made SLU it's own thread.

Someone posted this on the UPenn thread:

"It is probably unnecessary to start a thread for every school you have applied to, especially for a school like UPenn, who has no secondary prompt (just send money and press a button)."

That's the reason why I originally just linked directly to the prompt without starting SLU's own thread, because there was no real essay.

But then, funny-ly enough, someone posted "In regards to making a thread for a school with no prompts, if she didn't neurotic SDN'ers would revolt. "Where is U Penn's secondary thread?? Why don't they have a secondary???" This way, they know there is a secondary, and what it is."

 And that's exactly what happened in response to the lack of the SLU thread!

So anyway, the SLU thread has now been created!

I have this bad bad feeling that 90% of the secondaries are gonna be dropped on us in the same week..

Yea... "1st week of July" or "mid-July" is when we're going to get a LOOOT of secondaries...

Hi! Im relatively new here..or a 'zygote' as per my profile 😛

I was wondering if you guys knew if LSU was only taking residents now? I got a secondary but at the same time a note saying that theyre only taking residents or people who's family members or parents are alumnus. My mother did her residency there and my sister was born there... also I wanted to work in underserved/katrina affected area even though I am a California resident. I did apply very broad (about 50 schools) but theyre ALL schools I really see myself going to. I have broad interests (underserved, and neuro/research as well). It also said you can apply as MD/PhD without residency reqs is it a better option to do that ? Since you can later drop the PhD portion and just go for MD.... I really want to attend though so I dont want them to just eliminate me off the bat 😕

Good thing it's a three day weekend!

I will have UVA and GWU finished tomorrow. Columbia should be done by the end of the week. Now I just need to get my hair cut so I can take a nice, professional picture.

As a side note, I'm pretty good at Photoshop and am willing to do some minor touching up if anyone would like to get rid of some blemishes in their secondary pictures. If you're interested, just hit me up in a PM.

I am using an outside picture from an engagement photo session that my wife and I did before we got married 🙂

I didnt even bother putting on pants...just a button up and a clip on tie.

Nice.

My hair isn't really that long, but it's a bit out of control - definitely in need of a trim to look a bit more professional (and it'll be a bit easier to take care of). I'll probably throw on a button-up shirt, tie and a pin-stripe jacket and take a nice picture outside when the lighting is good.

I have a pretty decent picture right now that is an actor's headshot, but I don't think that this is really appropriate for the occasion.

hey guys, do u think there's a benefit in turning in secondaries now even if i don't plan on taking the mcat until later on in aug? do u guys know of ppl who got into great schools with an aug mcat? thanks!

Rochester's is now up. Literally took only 30 seconds to complete.

Got U Kentucky's this morning.

Thanks shemarty, you are doing an awesome job. I would have made it, I just didn't know if there was a reason there wasn't one...

Just got Georgetown's by email.

Why have you chosen to apply to Georgetown University School of Medicine, and how do you think your education at Georgetown will prepare you to become a physician for the future? Please note: You have a maximum of 5000 characters (about 1 single-spaced page in Times New Roman font) to complete this essay.)

well crap! i shouldve applied to upenn instead of georgetown.. at least the secondary wouldve been easier..
👎

UVAbme2009: After you submitted (really did take only 30 seconds), does your Application Status say "No Status"?

my status says no status as well- and I wish all secondaries were like that one!

Now if I can just make myself finish Texas Tech and SUNY Downstate today and then finish GW by the end of the week we should be up to date

Does it say they screen?
I didn't get an email... hopefully it comes soon! I just hope it doesn't get blocked or something since I'm using gmail.

I gathered that gmail was fine from the forums for last year's secondary...don't think that would be the reason. I'm debating retaking so if they screen and I don't get one it could be decisive.

amp3r5and: Yes, it still says no status.

5000 character max for Georgetown is a little ridiculous, no? I bet they get tired of reading all of those and the PS:laugh:

Is anyone having trouble logging on to the Gtown secondary? My link doesn't seem to be working

Is anyone having trouble logging on to the Gtown secondary? My link doesn't seem to be working

Just emailed them about it...I'll let you guys know if I get anything back.

Now it seems to be working.. although the direct link to the application guide is not working either. You can get that from their website though.

GEORGETOWN SECONDARY: copy and paste the link into the URL rather than clicking the link and it will work.

Did you try copying and pasting it? that worked for me. Didnt work when i clicked directly on it.

Also, it's like MCW's in that you should open it with Internet Explorer 😱

So, I didn't get the e-mail, but I was pretty sure they didn't screen.

My solution : I went to the website and clicked on "forgot password" and used the e-mail address on my AMCAS, since that's the one they have on file.

They sent my temporary password to my inbox, which allowed me to log in!

Haha, I think they're just sending out the e-mail in batches, but if they don't screen, then every single person SHOULD be able to log in.

(Edit: 15 minutes later...I just submitted it. Hooray for short secondaries!)

Yea, I know, I'm a little insane 😳

That works for part of it...I was talking about the 2009 application guide you must read before submitting (not that I'm done w/ 5000 characters). It's on the links page and the links don't seem to work.

same here but I'm pretty sure I found it on the actual georgetown SOM website

yeah, so if anyone submits early, while the link isn't working, then you'd basically be lying to their face. Unless someone else got it to work?
