Hey guys here is my problem. I recently started doing Uworld and am doing ~ 400 q's /day. I will have finished the bank in like 10 days ( 3-4 more days). However I am thinking it might be bad to have no questions to do for the last 2 weeks. Any ideas?? (ps. I already did kaplan and usmleconult q-banks too)

Thanks,

BN

seeing how there are only 2035 Qs you should have finished yesterday at a pace of 400 Qs/day

Redo questions from the Qbanks you've aleady completed to make sure you pound in the concepts. Theres no shortage of questions out there... If thats the way you learn then just keep on finding more and more to do.

Do you believe robbins review path is high yield for the test? I started doing half of it but there are questions on tumors I was never exposed to and dont expect to be exposed to

I'm sure its not as high yield as other questions, but I've heard a lot of people say "if you can nail the questions in that book you will nail Step 1." I'm planning on doing the questions in my last couple weeks in addition to my normal UW and also some Kaplan QBook action. If someone were running out of time and could only do one question bank then I probably would stick to something other than Robbins, but if you're running out of questions to do and you're doing well on all the ones you've already done then it can't hurt. If there is something in there that is obviously low yield (i.e. tumors you've never heard of) then you can probably just skip over those ones

How did you have time to do all the questions and still study? Did you not review the answers?

Oh, it's perfectly possible. If he goes twice as fast as the typical rate and does 96 questions...ok, let's be generous 100 questions in an hour, then he can do all 400 questions in 4 hours. Then, if his reading speed is not too slow - like say about 1500 words per minute - he could read through each question in about 30s, then there would be 30 seconds to jot down some notes in UW. So, that's reviewing 400q in 400 mins which is just under 7 hours. So, he could do all of this w/o breaks in 11hrs. When does he study, the other 13 hours when he isn't running a marathon for a break, or not sleeping, because face it, sleep is not really important when you have access to amphetamines.

OOPS...haha. I didn't mean 400. I mean 4 blocks of 48...so 192. See my brain is going to mush!!😳

Thats still a lot... Do you only read explanations for questions you got wrong? Assuming you use the entire time its 4hrs answering questions... And I usually take another hour to review at the least. 4 blocks of UW would take me like 9-10 hours if I ate lunch and dinner in there somewhere.

Some of the first 7 or 8 chapters (I forget the exact numbers) dealing with immune system, general pathology, and neoplasia were EXCELLENT review for me when I did those subjects last week.

Well worth it if you have the time, IMO.

I usually end up with like 15 minutes left in each block. I review every answer that I got right to see if I got it right for the right reason. Read the wrong answer that I put and the correct answer vingette. I also read the objectives for all. SO you probably are reading every single answer choice. If I crossed out an answer choice then I do not read that as I crossed it out for a reason. Usually ~ 5 hours to do and review.
