on the Stanford secondary, if you want to do academic research, you check off the "academic medicine" choice. It's that easy. That's the sector of medicine you'd be going to if you wanted to do academic research.

That's pretty much what I said. I worked at a med school for 8 years and the only faculty that do strictly reserach do not have MDs, they have PhDs. But, there are many, many MDs who do research but they are also required to do teaching. I have never seen an MD do nothing but research at a school; what would be the point of getting an MD ?

what i meant is that there's no reason to disagree (IMO) since scentimint responded correctly in context of the Stanford secondary.

Does any one have the info on University of Cincinnati?

It's been nearly a month since I got verified and I never got the University of Connecticut secondary, I guess I'm prescreened but can someone post the questions (I'm just curious).

No essays (except the small place where you can explain if you've had any speeding tickets. not a real essay though)! And the fee is only $25!

also, is the Stony Brook secondary just one question like the poster mentioned?

The Stony Brook secondary has three questions:

10. In your opinion, what contemporary medical issue needs to be addressed in the U.S. healthcare system and why?

11. What non-medically related experience has been most influential in your life?

12. In your intellectual development and preparation for a medical career, which non-science college course has been most valuable? Why?

Yes, that's correct. I'm going to edit my post to include that one. For some reason, I didn't see it the first time. Thanks! :)

Has anyone seen OHSU's secondary? What are the q's?

thanks.

Here are the OHSU 2ndary questions:
****Do NOT exceed one page on either answer****
SUPPLEMENTAL PERSONAL STATEMENT (required)
What values and personal attributes gained from your life experiences have best prepared you to enter the profession of medicine?

EMPLOYMENT/ACTIVITIES HISTORY (required)
Using a general format similar to the one below, give us a chronological account of your major activities and employment, including volunteer and summer activities, for the five years immediately preceding your proposed entry to medical school.

FROM (Mo/Yr To Mo/Yr) ACTIVITY (i.e. Work, School): BRIEF DESCRIPTION LOCATION (City/State)
This is supposed to look a bit like a 3 column table...no clue how to get that here

So Univ. Of Cinci has no essays?

There's one essay.

If you are currently NOT enrolled in a degree granting program, please briefly describe your major activities since you received your college degree. (750 Characters)

Anyone have either Michigan State or West Virginia University?

So this has got to be one of the best and most useful threads like ever. I've been looking up stuff for my friend on here before she's gotten her secondaries and she's been able to have all her essays written wayyy in advance so that once she gets the secondary there's not much time wasted.

Awesome that's what i have to do now. I'm finally finished with my personal statement now i have secondaries to work on.

Ok maybe I am just being computer challenged, but is anyone else having trouble typing in the Downstate secondary in Adobe? It won't let me type my responses! Help...

Does anybody know how consistent schools are with their secondaries from year to year.
I'll be applying next year and I was wondering if it would be useful for me to start writing the essays for these (no, not now, but this spring or early summer), or should I wait since many of them will be different next year?

I don't know if the prompts would be exactly the same, but it definitely won't hurt to start jotting down your strengths and learning experiences. You know, stay with the general idea of this year's secondaries, but be prepared to change things around (probably just rewording and no major content change) for next year if it comes to that.

I'm pretty sure its safe to say they stay the same. I know that is true of florida schools for a fact but imagine its true of the other schools as well.

Based on last year's secondary essay thread and this years threads it seems they've stayed relatively the same. I don't think they really alter it that much.

Any1 have the questions for the University of Southern California, Keck??

Nevermind .. found it!

Just wanted to post and say that I love the SUNY Buffalo secondary...so very very much.

In fact, I completed it by accident because I was filling out the first page of it to try and see if there were any questions I would have to write out, or any more specific sections (like course lists, etc) that I would need.

And uhh in filling out that first page I completed the secondary.

So even though it's one of the apps with the latest due dates, I finished it first.

Does anyone have the questions for WVU? Thanks!

I don't remember the questions but they have a list of professional attributes and four questions on professionalism and you have to talk about the professional attributes they listed in almost all of the four questions.

A_tree, the link to my Stonybrook secondary post included all 3 questions. It was the oldest link that only had one Q listed. Just FYI.

Thanks - I noticed that later. I wasn't paging down far enough to see it.

How about UMass Worc???

bumping for those who are curious about secondary essay questions

Does anyone have the secondary questions for NYMC and Texas A&M? The link for NYMC doesn't seem to lead to any questions and I didn't see Texas A&M in the list at all.

Thanks!
