I'm wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction to finding employment as a dentist in Dubai. I'm considering taking a visit there just to meet prospective employers. But in the meantime is there any agencies or other contacts that can help me? Thanks for you help.

HI,

If you are interested to practice in Dubai you must know that there is a licence exam that you need to pass there. Im not sure how to register for that butI can find out.
YOu can look fro dental jobs if you go to the classified jobs section of the local "Gulf News" paper there. ( I think the webaddress is www.gulfnews.com, go to classified section)

Hope this helps.
PS: I am dentist in Bahrain
All the best,
Pragati

Thank you for the information. What are MOH and DOH licences? Do you need this licence if you are student from an American Dental school? What is average salary for dentist in Bahrain?

Thank you for help

MOH stands for Ministry of Health. If you procure a MOH licensce, you can practice in the goverment hospitals and a get a good pay and benefits. I think DOH license is for practicing in private..will find out. You can even find out from the organisatiosn who placed the ad on the website. I see a few job vacancies there.

Yes you have to take the licence exams even if you have your DDS. You may find the exam easier compared to the dental boards! I m not sure about dubai but in Bahrain we had a thoery (mulitple choice), practical (endo , crown cutting), and clinical (involving spot identification and vivas). But passing Bahrain exam is harder as they are trying to cut down on expatriate dentists.
I heard Dubai exam is easier and more professional plus there are lot more jobs. I know a friend practising there, I can get in touch with him for more details. Saudi is great money too but then the lifestyle is little difficult.

The salary scales for foreign dentists in Bahrain is much lower than Dubai unless you are a specialist in Ortho, crown and bridge etc..then you get salaries from 700 dinars to 1200 dinars. ( 0.373 dinar= 1 dollar)

I know of some Indians who have opened theri clinic there but they are making it harder now. You might be able to do that if a local sponsors you or joins with you.

There seems to be a good scope of dental practice there.

Dubai is a very cosmopolitan country..you will find less of the locals and more of foreigners there! Its a mix of Mumbai and US! So there is little space for discrimination.

Will try and get more details for you guys.

hi in dubai there is a lot of scope for dentistry but the incomes r definitely not lke here.the lifestyle is very cool and wat u earn is tax free but then again if u compare the avg salaries between a dentist there and here----they make much more here even after taxes.

Very interesting. I have a question. I understand the salary is less compared to what you can earn but is the lifestyle about the same? Would you say its below average, average, above average compared to rest of the people of Dubai?

abina the lifestyle there is great ,u gotta see it to believe it.i have been there visiting friends, they live larger than we do here.they have all the latest cars, even more latest cel phones and all the food chains and stores that we have here, plus the working hours r more relaxed.and more vacation time than here.
