Going to bed now, will def. check it out later though when I have time.

I watched this documentary a few months ago while I was prepping for my first interviews, and I found it to be quite thought provoking. It was a really helpful jumping off point for me as I tried to articulate how exactly the American health care system is, well, flawed. It probably shouldn't be your only source (I need to find where some of those stats came from!) but definitely a good starting point.

Your correct that really it should serve as more of a "jumping off point" not as the ultimate word on health care. It will definitely be useful for people with little to no exposure to the system

Great video. It was good at summarizing what we all kind of talk about on these forums....what are WE going to do about it?

I just took some time to watch this video. It was certainly very informative. It seemed to me, though, that he took the first 45 or so minutes to discuss the problem(s) in great detail, but only the last 2 to offer solutions

QTF... very informative about why our healthcare is so expensive (particularly the administrative problems) says little of solutions.

My only disagreement is with the portion about end of life care, this is a slippery slope.

One example, a relative of mine who lives in a country with socialized medicine needed a knee replacement. However, since she was well into her 70's her operation was deemed not "cost effective" based on her age and she was placed on a list nearly a year long condemning her to a year in a wheelchair unable to exercise as she did regularly (probably shaving years off her life) and destroying her quality of life for that entire year. Although eventually, through some pull (socialist systems are unequal too, they just work based on pull instead of money) she was able to get the operation in a reasonable amount of time.

The point being, who gets to decide the cut off point between cost effectiveness and limiting patients rights for quality healthcare? When a patient is living on machines and has no chance of recuperating thats one thing, but we all know it wont stop there, just as it didnt in the example above.
