architects? designers? post bac pre med

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I heard this is the thread where I can meet a hot architect?

Ever since Mike Brady....then Sleepless in Seattle....and now Ted Mosby...I <3 Architects.

My previous career was in an art history related field. Has gone well-every loves an artist!

Hey Pons,

Can you please change your avatar? 🙂 It is very scary. I've been having nightmares since you changed your avatar from bad to worse. LOL

Was a trollish day around the boards. Figured Rage Guy was appropriate 🙂

SDN wouldn't be the same without trolls. Where else would you meet over hundred people with 4.0 GPA and 42 MCAT? 😉

artsydoc- thanks for reaching out ....

i'm just starting to volunteer at OHSU and taking philosophy of medicine coursework.

where are you at in the schooling process?

if you're in med school, did you first work or volunteer in a healthcare setting?

Architect here... soon to be not an architect [knock on wood]

I worked for my family's firm doing high-end residential, a big firm working on a nationwide commercial account, and then built custom furniture. Besides building furniture, I hated all of it. I hated architecture school as well. At the time I thought it was "school" that was a drag, but I LOVE the science classes I have taken. I was torn between pre-med and architecture when I started school, but ultimately the plan was to take over the family business. It didn't work out.

If your arch school was anything like mine, you know how to get work done. All nighters were commonplace and you put in A LOT of time on your projects.

I enjoy the fact that science classes are rarely subjective and in many ways easier than architecture school.

I started my pos bacc about a year and a half ago. I finish orgo II and phys II this May, along with taking the MCATs on the 21st.

Way late, but can't believe I found other architecture/art majors doing the med route. Would love to hear an update. Just wonderin' how my fellow arch undergrads turned med applicants are doin'.

As for me, graduated in May 2011 with my prof. bachelors of arch, in grad school for bio. Applying for the second time around, gettin' interviews here and there.
