anyone know the details of this case?

brb not practicing medicine in CT...

The various news articles are vague but it seems like the physician in question is fellowship trained in MFM from Yale.

Settlements like this are ridiculous. People complain about the high C section rates but $hit like this happens and do they really need to wonder why?

No one's going to sue you for $58 million for cutting someone too soon.

Geez. I really do hate lawyers and the whole malpractice system.

Dear God - that is so ridiculous. This couple obviously sued to get money. I'll never consider practicing in a state without tort reform, because this is what happens.

There are several, actually - texas, california, the carolinas, colorado, so on and so forth. My understanding is that southern states are much more MD-friendly than northern or noreastern states (except for florida, where there's still no tort reform).
