1001 Physics question help

Hi if there is some physics masters out there i really cant grasp a few concepts regarding tension here. its questions 283,284,285 and the couple following the concept of three items attached by ropes and finding tensions of each.. if someone with the 1001 books could help me out with those. for the life of me i cant find info on that in my text, the reveiw or anything and itsnot coming to me. thanks so much!
