do adcoms view this as a 7 or 8?

on the 2013 percentile ranks, an 8 was 51st percentile and 7 was 36th percentile

You answered the question yourself. 7 =36%. 8=51%. What is a 49% more similar to? If you do whole numbers, its an 8. If you're neurotic, its a 7.9.

VR historically got cut the most slack on MCAT results. CARS will no doubt get the same, but to a degree. Your state MD schools will be most forgiving.
