since the updated percentiles released by AAMC in May 2016, 124 on CARS=49th percentile

do adcoms view this as a 7 or 8?

on the 2013 percentile ranks, an 8 was 51st percentile and 7 was 36th percentile

Those who don't like 7's and 8's on CARS won't like it.
It's just one piece of the whole picture.
How about someone who scored 517 with a 124 in CARS? Spanish is first language and may be a reason for my difficulties in reading comprehension.

How about you apply and see how adcoms will view it. I can give you my opinion but that is all speculation. No need to waste time or energy on speculation; put that time and energy into your application

VR historically got cut the most slack on MCAT results. CARS will no doubt get the same, but to a degree. Your state MD schools will be most forgiving.
