Just received my MCAT scores today, wanted to get some input on my resume!
-3.51 cGPA from University of WA with upward grade trend
-32O MCAT
-Trained EMT-Basic (2009)
-Certified Nursing Assistant (2010)
-Worked as Radiology Orderly for 6 months (ongoing)
-Newly hired as ED Scribe
-50 hours shadowing MD's in various dept. (not counting scribing)
-Volunteered at youth golf org. past year
-Part of healthcare team (1 MD, 2 RNs, me as an EMT/CNA) going to Zimbabwe for 3 week volunteering in rural trauma hospital (June-July)
-Published in American Statistical Association for research study on computer literacy (relevant?) (2008)
- LOR from medical ethics prof, inorganic chemistry prof. Will call them mediocre strength as I had an extended relationship with neither of them. LOR from ER doc I shadowed for 20+ hours
Obviously will apply to own state school, pretty much limited to OOS private schools, but do not have a great grasp on a lot of the other MD schools! Any advice where I may be competitive? Also, trying to weigh benefits of waiting to apply until after I finish medical trip to Zimbabwe (return July 2) so I can include experiences in PS and primary app
