14 credits, Part time job, Too much?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did it, even worked part time while taking more credits than that, and a few even go full time work and full time school at the same time. You can try it, but be ready to adjust immediately if you start having troubles; protecting your GPA is the most important thing right now if your goal is med school.

It's definitely doable. I am taking 17 credits this semester and working part time. 🙂

This depends entirely on the credits/ workload. I've had semesters with 12 credits that were was busier and more intense than semesters with 18 credits. Generally speaking though it probably should be doable.

I agree, it depends on the type of credits. I just finished a semester that consisted of 3 classes 4 credits each (Biochemistry, Virology, and Molecular Biology) while working 35-40 hours a week and it was very tough but doable as long as you manage your time wisely.

Agree with the above posts.

I know a trad who worked 16+ hrs week as a scribe, 4-8 hours a week in research, ~4 hrs/week in a hospital and 19 hours of credit. He still had time left over to bug me to play video games with him.

A lot of it depends on what those 14 hours of credit are. The trad I know took a very easy schedule that included NONE of the pre-reqs and no labs. I wouldn't take 14 hours of credit and work if they consist of the pre-req weedout classes and three labs.

Like every other poster above has said...
I am doing bio II, chem I and physics I while working full time. It really stinks sometimes :yeahright:
Just don't overdo yourself, you'll have to play catch up later on, and that is never any fun at all.

Took Orgo I, Chem II, Immunology, and Algebra w/ Trig, all while working 28 hours a week and maintaining a girlfriend, a night out a week, and a fantastic record on League of Legends.
